We will be holding auditions for our production of "The Festival of the Spheres" on Sunday, December 10, from 2:00-5:00, at the Alliance for the Arts, 10091 McGregor Blvd., at the corner of McGregor and Colonial in Fort Myers.
Producing Director Jim Brock notes that Ghostbird is seeking to broaden its corps of actors. "We want to nurture individuals who've worked for us before, but we are also wanting to expand and mature as a theatre company. We are looking for receptive, energetic, and creative artists, people who can move, and who 'get' what Ghostbird is about as an immersive, experimental theatre company."
Ghostbird also has been able to pay all its actors a modest stipend beginning in 2016. For this production, all actors and tech crew will be paid through a grant from the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs. "We should be able to pay our actors about twice what we have been able to do so in the past," says Brock. "We admired what Tellers Theatre Company was able to do in paying its actors a few years ago, and we were inspired to match what they were able to do."
"Of course," says Associate Artistic Director Katelyn Gravel, "we're really about collaboration with our artists. We are looking for people who are willing to extend themselves artistically, to play in very unconventional and magical roles."
We are looking for actors (18-years-old and older) for a variety of roles. Rehearsals will begin in January, and the play runs February 9, 10, 16, and 17 at the Koreshan State Historic Site.
Please prepare a two-minute dialogue, and please bring a resume and headshot. You may also perform a one-minute song, if you wish to showcase your singing abilities. Auditions will be on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is necessary.
